Sharon Ifayori
I am a trained Full Circle Doula through Shafia Monroe Consulting (SMC) and certified through Northwest Association for Postpartum Support (NAPS). The postpartum period is a vulnerable and transitional time-frame where families should always have a sense of community and support. I value bringing light, guidance and compassion to women and families after childbirth. Every story is different and I believe in strengthening and supporting each family that decides to choose me on their unique journey. My goals are to encourage self-advocation for the voices and instinct of mothers, to provide care for women and newborn babies, and to educate families on how to nurture new life and all it comes with. I prioritize being present, aware and intentional with my work. Creating space for both mom and baby to adjust to life after birth is a key component in having happy and healthy ways of relating. Understanding the importance for mothers to be taken care of in the 4th trimester is a passion of mine and I enjoy uplifting those experiences. As a black woman, this passion directly correlates to my role as a mother, daughter, sister, auntie, god-mother, cousin, niece and friend. A role that consists of being compassionate, open-minded and teachable. In connection to my doula career, I completed a Pregnancy and Postpartum Herbs & Nutrition course in addition to a Birth, Lactation, Accommodation, Culture, Kinship (B.L.A.C.K) course. I have a few years of child development study and research, I am certified in Mental Health first aid, Certified Home Care Aide, and I have completed two years of nursing school. My life experiences is what most qualifies me to support families in the capacity I do. Outside of serving my community, I enjoy spending quality time with my loved ones, traveling and writing.
